Short Term 12

Short Term 12 is an Indie film released in 2013, the film follows Grace a young counsellor working at a foster home for at risk teens.

Short Term 12 is an excellently crafted film, the film is inspired by the directors personal experience of working in a youth home, which leads to the films biggest strength, it’s realism, all the characters and dialogue are so well written, relatable and grounded. I found myself instantly connecting with many of the characters instantly.
The acting in this film is also excellent, the cast members all deliver excellent performances and all of the young actors turn great performances across the board. In particular Keith Stanfield’s performance had me floored I can wait to what roles he gets in the future as he shows so much talent in this film.

If you enjoy films with real world relatable characters dealing with real world problems  you should enjoy this film, it’s a great watch with an uplifting ending.
Cretton is definitely a director I will be watching out for in the future.
